  Eric Alan An ambitious bay area musician who has lent his support to the local music scene in a big way. Most recently, Eric hosted the Triangle Lounge open mic.

• 

  Kyra Brown Kyra hosted Dylan's open mic for years before it stopped in late 2005.

• 

  Austin deLone Aside from his role with the BAMMIES, playing with Elvis Costello or producing commercials for Levi's Jeans, Austin hosts the Silverado open mic.

• 

  Jessica Eschman Jessica Eschman ("Jessie" to those that know her) hosts Toad's open mic in the Mission.

• 

  Firesign Entertainment Kristina Sablan and Darren Anderson make up Firesign Entertainment, which used to host the Stephens Green & Brittania Arms open mics. Firesign also manages bookings for other bay area bands.

  Girl George What can you say about Girl George? Longtime Starry Plough and Stork Club open mic hostess, there is nothing quite like being in the audience while Girl George bangs out the chords of her song "Johnny's Got Herpes" while screaming at the audience to sing along.

  Kimberly A mean fiddle player in her own right, Kimberly has been hosting the Tuesday open mic at McGrath's in Alameda for the last few years.

  Krickie Hostess of both the regular songwriter showcase and "Sexy Sundays," the female songwriter showcase, at Peri's in Fairfax.

• 

  Mike McShea , otherwise known as "open Mike" runs Peri's open mic in Fairfax and plays in local bands Ruckus and Sweetie Pie & the Doughboys.

  Earl Oliver Described as a "San Francisco treasure," Earl hosts The Grind and The Headlands open mics as well as being a veteran of McGraths.

  Bob O'Magic Hotel Utah open mic host alumnus, Bob O'Magic has his fingers in many bay area open mic and musical events.

  Joan Pez has been hosting the Starry Plough open mic in Berkeley with Girl George for years. She also runs Tweet Records, a recording studio in the east bay.

• 

  Pope Paul Pot runs the Missouri open mic in Berkeley, the classiest dive bar on the San Pablo corridor, baby!

• 

  John Rhodes John Rhodes runs an open mic poetry podcast called "Mystic Babylon" wherein he hosts selections from various Bay Area poets. Right on, John.

• Keith Savage

  Keith Savage has no website. Keith Savage has, as far as I know, no fixed address. When I first met him, Keith was on a campaign to host an open mic every day of the week, a feat he claimed to have pulled off. I know for a fact he was hosting at least 4 San Francisco open mics at one point. If you run into him, shake his hand and share a conversation.

  Skylar Has stepped in to fill a well-needed notch in the east bay with her Pine Street Bar open mic night in Livermore.

• 

  JJ Shultz Originally from Wisconsin, JJ took over hosting the legendary Hotel Utah open mic from El Zakador.

• 

  Nina Jo Smith Nina Jo Smith hosts the San Francisco Starbucks open mic for WCS.

• 

  Grace Woods runs the Coffee to the People open mic in San Francisco on Tuesday nights, as well as being a crossover jazzbo/songwriting talent with her band, The Grace Woods Trio.

• 

  Andy Z Andy Z used to host the Voodoo Lounge (now closed) open mic for years. Now he gets to play with the real experts of playing - kids. Check him out in the awesome bumblebee hat.

• David Kent, aside from being a mean guitarist, has tipped me off on a number of east bay open mics - go raibh mile, Dave!

• Firecracker rocks. Whitey Gomez, Darling Clementines . . . all precursors to the inimitable Firecracker. They're great. Really.

• Noe Venable is the coolest. Truly an exceptional and unbelieveable San Franciscan talent. She moved to Brooklyn recently, sorrow!

• The Supplicants are the coolest San Francisco jazz band I know.

• The Down Cows serve up some quirky pop goodness in the east/south bay area. Keee-razy!

• David sent me an email about the Alyis and Rose cafe open mic.

• Little Boy Blue is a swell bay area guy who plays a lotta open mics and asked me for a link. Right on.

• Mathue is an orthodox poet who sometimes haunts the bay area. He gave me the heads up on the Horseshoe open mic.

• Andrew Freeman plays an awful lot of music around the bay area and has helped me out with the occaisional open mic email heads-up. Thanks, Andrew!

• Songwriter.ie is a non-profit Irish singer-songwriter organization that started in 2003 to support unsigned Irish artists. Songwriter.ie hosts an annual showcase which it records live and releases as a CD each year.
