Berkeley Poetry Slam
This event is held at The Starry Plough.
From the Northern California Poetry Slam Organization, the Poetry Slam is not for the weak of heart. Masters of verse duke it out for audience approval to see who is the better spontaneous poet. There is usually a musical guest to play before, after and in-between slam sessions. Fun to watch and big thrills if you've got a yearnin' to throw out some verse slam-style.
Interesting that right next door the La Peņa Cutural center is holding their own poetry event on the same night...

- Sound: The starry Plough's sound system is a bit muddy, but better suited to angry poets than classical guitarists.
