Playfully called "Richard's by the Sea" or, if you believe their Facebook page, "The spiritual center of the universe posing as a local bar," Dick's is one of just two bars in Mendocino, and this is the one you want to visit. Dick's is a 1934 wood-frame saloon perched on the south side of Medocino above the waves, its windows framing a stunning view of the rugged local coastline. Boasting the only neon sign in town, Dick's is notorious in local legend. There are stories of people riding their horse into this place. Personally, the last time I was there a burlesque troop visited, someone was handing around a bottle of Jameson...and the rest of the night is a blur.
